Until Justice Data Partners believes that data can be a powerful tool for storytelling and advocacy.
Our Mission & Values
We are rooted in the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing, meaning that we honor the expertise of disproportionately impacted and marginalized communities. We believe that differences are not deficits and that they can help us solve some of society’s biggest problems if we are willing to learn from each other and let those historically marginalized communities take the lead. We celebrate the work these communities have historically done to sustain their communities. We enter our community partnerships as servants, with the hopes of being promoted to “partner.”
At Until Justice Data Partners (UJDP), we also believe that data can be a powerful advocacy tool for both creating and sustaining effective positive interventions. We assist our partners in incorporating data into their advocacy work through research partnerships, locating existing resources, addressing data gaps, using lived experience and non-traditional (marginalized) data sources.
Our Why
For centuries, historically excluded populations have had narratives created and sustained about them. Some populations have been erased from the narrative. These narratives may be upheld by biased, racist, and oppressive assumptions, which can then lead to unfair questions and ideas that haven't been proven or disproven. The normalization of this bias may have led to persistent data gaps, preventing the creation of effective interventions and solutions. Until Justice Data Partners, seeks to demystify and normalize the use of research and data, not only in social justice work but also in daily life. We want to normalize asking questions and seeking answers.

UJDP seeks to encourage more community-based research and partnerships, creating a community of justice researchers empowered to use data in their work. We strive to unite and expand the data community for the social good.
