Nonprofit Fundraiser Job Position

Until Justice Data Partner, UJDP (ujdp.org), a growing nonprofit, is seeking a fundraiser. Formed in October 2020, UJDP is a service and solidarity-focused research and advocacy support organization. Rooted in the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing, we believe in the lived and technical experience of our community and grassroots partners. We aim to enable the collection, dissemination and use of community and institutional datasets. 

We are looking for someone to assist with grant-writing and development, which can include newsletters, fundraising social media, donor relationships, and relationships with funders. 

This is a great opportunity for early-career fundraising and development directors. 

The Director should be a dynamic individual who can work independently and in collaboration with our organizational partners. They should excel in building and sustaining relationships and have strong strategic planning skills. Creativity, drive and and sense of purpose are necessary to engage our expanding audience and drive engaging fundraising campaigns.

By joining our community, the Director will have the opportunity to work with academically and community researchers, policy experts, organizers, lawyers, technical experts and advocates from our local, regional, national and international partners. 

Your work and efforts will work towards finding the root cause of injustices, sustaining and building data tools, preventing and responding to natural and chemical disasters, and normalizing the use of data in advocacy and community education.

This is a remote position. 

This is a contract position at $55/hr.

Nonprofit Fundraiser Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies

  • Identify and research potential donors

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and prospective donors

  • Maintain a grants calendar

  • Organize and manage fundraising events

  • Prepare and submit grant proposals

  • Co-create fundraising materials with the Executive Director and other team members, as applicable. 

  • Track and report on fundraising progress and outcomes

  • Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards in fundraising practices

  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and other team members as applicable. 

  • Manage donor databases and records

Nonprofit Fundraiser Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field

  • Proven experience in fundraising or development for a nonprofit organization, as shown through 2 letters of reference. 

  • Strong network within the philanthropic community

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in using donor management software. We currently use Little Green Light

  • Ability to assist in organizing and hosting potential events

  • Experience in grant writing and reporting

  • Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in fundraising or development

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace

  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • The ability to work over written communication and calls. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
